More than a moment
When tragedy strikes we are often caught in an emotional trajectory that acts as a catalyst for change. The nagging question is…how long will it last?
Perhaps the more important question is…how can we make thst impetus for change be “more than a moment”? More than an emotional “hot flash”?
Most everyone who is talking about needed change at this time in our nation’s history following the political assassination of Charlie Kirk is focusing on the absolute necessity of tamping down the vile, vitriolic, vulgar rhetoric that demeans the character of those offering competing ideas. The optional response would be resolute listening and thoughtful dialogue with a goal of getting things done together that will benefit our country--not build personal egos.
This could be modeled by our President with no belittling of his opponents’ character in spite of the manifold attacks upon his. The forum of public discourse should provide the healthy exchange of ideas--not the hideous and heinous excrement of name-calling and character assassination (remember that word).
Someone needs to break the cycle of the toxic “tit for tat” that has become the modus operandi of Washington DC, Calling the opposition “fascists ” and “nazis” is evil, if not diabolical. I’m calling on our President to do that.
This could be the catalyst for change we who love our county have been praying for, It could make the outpouring of our collective emotions and the public gatherings of prayer literally around the world “more than a moment”…

I totally agree with this, Dale. Thank you for speaking truth ❤️
