Tone matters
It was an ambitious inaugural speech with a focused presentation of all the broad--perhaps grandiose--of the Trump agenda. That militant somber tone meant to bolster hope for greater days undoubtedly fueled the support of his most ardent followers.
For me it was a disappointment. The bitter critique of the outgoing administration only served to mark the fierce divide between him and his most volatile adversaries who he must govern. The dissonant tone was short of his common demagoguery but still managed to secure the deep divide between us.
if this is a template for the coming four years the opportunities for any hope of reconciliation and bipartisanship were not enhanced. This was a chance to advance the challenge of our vital work together but it was drowned out by its deafening tone of partisanship.
